You must have heard of the iPhone 4 antenna issues, and Apple has already been colored bad for the glitch. However, Android SMS bug, which is considered a more serious software glitch has not yet gained momentum on news and tech sites.

Android SMS bug is more serious considering the nature of damage it can cause, just imagine you were sending a private message to your close friend and it lands on your boss’s phone. At least iPhone 4 antenna glitch will not cost your job or marriage.

The bug which is already there for a while is not yet fixed in the latest Android 2.3 update. If you are on Android and not willing to take risks then change your default SMS app to some other app from Android Marketplace.

I featured NESoid a few weeks back, and now it’s Super Nintendo’s turn to shine with SNesoid. With SNesoid, you can play your favorite Super Nintendo games on your mobile device. The app costs $3.99 but is well worth it as you can bring favorites such as Street Fighter, Super Mario, and Zelda in your pocket. Download the app, then download SNES Roms, which you can find with your favorite file explorer. The latest game I downloaded was Super Mario Kart, which plays fantastic but takes some getting used to. Enjoy having a portable SNES console on the go with SNesoid! [Market Link | AppBrain]

Chris Kerrigan – Endomondo

I love to work out, and I frequently will go on long 2- or 3-mile runs to help keep myself in shape. Wouldn’t it be great if you could track your workouts? Well, with Endomondo you can. The app allows you to choose between a very generous selection of workouts, from running, cycling, skating, and even swimming. It times your workout, and uses your devices GPS to track your movement. You can also set goals from within the app, and have it play music straight off of your phone while you work out. While you’re working out, you can also haveEndomondo update your progress live to it’s website so others can track your progress. Maybe a little stalker-like, but a neat feature nonetheless. While many members of the Android development community build right into their ROM’s the ability to reboot the device or to boot to recovery right from their standard power menu, unfortunately not everyone does. Jerry Hildenbrand – Need For Speed Shift

Since I’ve done nothing but play this non-stop since it went on sale for $0.99 I figure this is a great candidate for my app of the week choice.  The premise is one we’re all familiar with, as it’s the same as most racing games — advance your career by winning races, use the prize money to buy new vehicles and improvements for them. What puts NFS-S above the rest of its genre, to me at least, is the smoothness of the gameplay. Even on phones with less than stellar graphics performance, NFS-S is smooth, with nice fluid graphics and great responsiveness. The controls are simple, unless you want them not to be — you can set it to be as simple as following the track arrows by tilting your phone, or make things more manual for the expert. (I like the simple method ). NFS-S is not compatible with the Galaxy Tab, and many users with Galaxy S phones report problems. With the large download after purchase (96 MB) and the new 15 minute return window, I want to let you guys and gals know this right up front. I can confirm that the gameplay on the Evo 4G and Nexus One is just fine, and on the Nexus S it’s easily the best 3D racing game I’ve tried. Jesse Potter – clockr

I’m a total sucker for widgets, especially if they help pull a theme together. Text-based clock widgets are all the rage lately, so in that regard Clockr offers nothing new. But where it does stand out is its customizability. Clockr allows you the specify font colors, and alternating color patterns — which makes it perfect for themes. Sharing media from our devices isn’t exactly hard but it isn’t always easy either. When it comes to Twitter there is a ton of apps that allow us to Tweet but sharing media on Twitter is sometimes difficult especially if said media is video. TwitVid, allows for uploading of videos direct from your device to TwitVid making the whole process as easy as two or three clicks. The app is available for fre in the Android Market and is one of my personal favorites. In addition to the uploading you can also tweet from within the app, it’ll ask if you want to add a message. The best part is when upload, the video will also be converted to mobile formats for any of your followers.
